COMMON GROUND

COMMON GROUND is our inaugural, nationwide initiative delivered with support from the UK's leading theatres and arts organisations.

We invite self-identifying, working-class artists to take part in a supportive, group discussion and share the barriers to career progression that they face when building careers in theatre in their specific region.

We explore which barriers could be directly linked to their socio-economic status and how these barriers impact their attempts to progress their career, enabling us to better understand the difficulties working-class artists face in specific regions across the UK.

Based on points raised during the discussion, we ask for direct suggestions from artists towards initiatives that could be created to provide practical solutions to these barriers. We then collaborate with established theatres across the UK to further develop, trial and implement these opportunities, created by working-class artists, for working-class artists.

Through COMMON GROUND, we help regional areas build a strong and supportive network of working-class artists in their locality, who may otherwise have felt isolated in their attempts to build a sustainable career in theatre.

Details of upcoming and previous COMMON GROUND events can be found below.
